No local council building officer is going to approve a plan that does not meet all the relevant safety and building requirements. Do not think you can wing it. Before you even start to design the security fence you plan to do yourself, you will need to be aware of what is required by your local council. Just remember the old adage that you cannot fight city hall. Or rather, you can fight them but you are highly unlikely to win. Your chief goal is to win approval from your local government authority. Unless you know what you're doing it could be a very time consuming and frustrating activity. It all depends on the style, type and size of your new security fence but there are certain tools, plant and equipment you will require. Do you already own these items or do you intend to buy or hire them? In all the plans you make you will need to take into account the equipment you need to actually build the fence. One assumes that you will have a budget and a hefty part of your budget may well involve the purchase or hire of the relevant tools and equipment. Another important aspect in the subject of building your own security fence is the small matter of time. If you are already engaged in a full-time job you'll need to think long and hard about how long it will take you to build your own fence. The professionals do it for a living. They have the expertise, equipment and importantly the time to build security fences. Even if you do have the expertise the money and the enthusiasm to do the job yourself, do you have the time? There's nothing worse than seeing a job site where the completion date seems forever in the distance. By all means consider building your own security fence but before you make that decision think about all the above points and if you really want to see the finished product before you and/or your family lose patience. |
